I recall the days when gay meant happy had nothing to do with peoples gender, and racism was defined as “prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one’s own race is superior.”
George Orwell in his book “Animal Farm” had his own way of expressing racism.
As soon as the animals have expelled the humans, the dream of equality on Animal Farm begins to crumble. At first, it is decreed that all animals are equal. The animals make commandments to enforce this idea. However, soon the pigs begin to rewrite history. They consider themselves smarter and better than the other animals.
An example is the milk and apples the pigs take for themselves. Squealer insists that the pigs are brainworkers and they need special food. The animals had expected to share these, but then the pigs take them.
“You do not imagine, I hope, that we pigs are doing this in a spirit of selfishness and privilege? Many of us actually dislike milk and apples. I dislike them myself. Our sole object in taking these things is to preserve our health. Milk and apples (this has been proved by Science, comrades) contain substances absolutely necessary to the well−being of a pig. …” (Ch. 3)
That brings me to the opt out clause, its called “indigenous rights” rights that were granted by the majority ruling powers to those minorities who were in the past subject to racism. If your born with a little bit of aboriginal blood in you, at least in Canada you can claim full Indian status, in this way we can legitimately keep racism alive, by pitting the working class and the poor against another group based on their DNA.
It matters not if they own a house worth close to a million dollars, own a 50-Thousand-dollar brand now diesel-powered truck, own a 50 thousand-dollar 5th wheel travel trailer, and a 50-thousand-dollar fishing boat, they still have the right to kill moose, deer, bears, goats, you name it, out os season with no need for a license, plus help yourself to the aboriginal food fishery. Even if your neighbor who was unfortunately not of the right race, who is working 2 jobs at minimum wage, has a very difficult time feeding his or her family, paying the bills and keep a roof over their head.
OK, that probably does not happen very often that you will find some rich aboriginals, but there really are some that are that rich and still partake in all their racial rights.
My point is that it does not matter how rich or poor you are, when privilege is granted based on your DNA, that used to be called discrimination, before the DNA opt out clause also called “Aboriginal rights” are race based rights. It was called racism, now we have blinkers on, armed with guilt about victims of racism to justly another generation of racist policies.
I am not talking about hammered out agreements like land settlements or property settlements, I am talking about every day rights and privileges.
I know I am going to ruffle some feathers here so before you reply about my ignorance on Canadian history, remember this, I lived side by side with aboriginals for over 60 years now. Many of my best friends are aboriginal, so this is not a color issue for me. Its not an issue for my 100% indigenous wife either, we don’t consider our differences as anything other than a cultural heritage, were both human so were equal as humans, both by DNA and by sex.
Now let me tell you a true story, there are 3 kids all around the same age, 2 shared the same mother, the 3rd did not. They love each other as brothers and sisters, however 2 of them have aboriginal rights and privileges, the 3rd does not. Does in fact race or nationality define who gets rights and privileges?
Our stupid government (yes that’s our fault) tells aboriginals they are allowed to food fish, if the numbers of fish are high enough, they can sell fish to the rest of us Canadians, however not the other way around, unless you’re a grocery store.
So the economically disadvantaged of one race can sell to the other races, but the economically disadvantage without the right DNA may not. That’s reserved for the elite rich, the same people who govern all of us.
Again privilege based on the color of your skin, using the racism opt out clause called “Indigenous peoples” but they swear up and down this is not racism, separating humans once again based on their DNA.
Its time we as a human race stopped playing into the hands of those who seek to divide us, and will do or say anything to get elected.
Thanks for having taken the time to read what I have shared with you,
